At Mahdi Opticals all our lenses have scratch resistant coating as standard. Lenses normally scratch very easily if not taken care properly. This coating is applied to both sides of the lens with a clear, scratch resistant coating which has a much harder surface that is more resistant to scratching, whether it’s from dropping your glasses on the floor or occasional cleaning them with a tissue. Keep in mind that even the best scratch resistant coating can’t completely protect your lenses from wear tear.
Anti-Glare coating (also called Anti-reflective coating) is a thin multilayer coating that eliminates reflections from the front and back surfaces of the lenses. Anti-Glare coating is highly recommended for all spectacle lenses, especially for high index lenses as these lenses often cause more noticeable reflections. Anti-Glare coating also eliminates glare or the halo effect around headlights and street lights caused by light reflecting from your lenses. With reflections eliminated, it provides better vision and comfort for night driving. Anti-Glare coating is also beneficial if you spend a great deal of time on the computer. Working on a computer for an extended period of time can lead to eye strain, as your eye muscles struggle to view specific areas of the monitor and battle the glare. Typical symptoms of eye strain or eye fatigue while working on the computer include blurry vision, dry eyes and irritation.
Blue Block works the same way as Anti-Glare but has added advantages and improves the efficiency of the Anti-Glare coating.
Advantages include:
- Filters harmful blue light from entering the eye
- Smudge Resistance.
- Dust Repellent.
- Water Repellent.
- Easier to clean.
Our Blue Block coating comes with a 1 Year Standard Guarantee from manufacture fault.
You cannot see ultra-violet light, but it is very dangerous to the eye and can damage the retina. Ideal for people who want their eyes to be constantly protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Overexposure to ultraviolet light is thought to be a cause of cataracts, retinal damage and other eye problems.
Polarised lenses have a special filter that lets only the useful light through. Horizontal light causing glare is blocked by the polarising filter. They are tinted lenses which offer 100% UV protection. Ideal for driving, water sports (e.g. fishing and sailing). These lenses reduce glare, enhanced colour perception, improved contrast and greater visual comfort. They are available in 2 colours Grey and Brown.
